Joe Thurston was many things: a loving father of two, devoted husband to his high school sweetheart and wife of 11 years, Marsena, and a steadfast friend and confidant. Born and raised in Cedar City, Utah this humble guy from a small town touched so many during his short time on earth. On June 30, 2013, Joe and eighteen of his Granite Mountain Hotshot ‘brothers’ lost their lives in the Yarnell Hill Fire. They died heros; fighting for people they may never meet. This page is dedicated to Joe–the energetic, compassionate, determined, loving, funny, hardworking and extremely kind man we all miss tremendously. It is a place for thoughtful remembrances and information on how you can help his family.
God bless Joe and his family.
Thank you for your skills and service.
May peace be with Joe’s family. My thoughts are with the Cedar High boy and all of his family at this time.
Bless Joe, Marsena and the boys, and Gayemarie and the rest of his family.
Loved Joe’s smile. My thoughts and prayers are with Marsena and the boys and Gaye at this horrible time.
